In Between: Pebbles, Books, Life and Giveaway

Just a little filler, just whiling away my days

Today I took a break with the makeup since Mummy woke me up saying we needed to take our 14-year old cat, Pebbles, to the vet. Pebbles hasn't been eating lately nor has she been drinking water so we're naturally worried as she has been really weak. We went to the vet yesterday and Pebbles got a booster that was meant to stimulate her appetite but it did little to motivate her to eat and this morning Mummy was worried as it seemed as though Pebbles was wobbly and unable to move much without collapsing in exhaustion.

Suki Challenge: Cerberus vs. Coffins and Killer Bees

I like it rough

(I kind of look like I've come out of a horror movie...)

Today was insanely hot and I was unprepared for the heat! I've forgotten how humid it can be over here in Sri Lanka. In comparison, Adelaide's summer heat is more dry than humid. I don't know which I prefer to be honest: scalding sun or sweaty days?

Saturday Squeeze: It's Complicated

Subconsciously making my Saturday that much better

I know this movie is relatively "old" but I just got around to watching it last night with Mummy and boy was it hilarious! Yes, the plot of it is bittersweet and somewhat sad but (spoiler alert) it has a happy ending and it was the ending I had hoped for.

The movie centered on Jane Alder (Meryl Streep) who is divorced and in her 50s but loving life only to have an affair with her ex-husband, Jake Alder (Alec Baldwin), who is married to the "young fling" Agness (Lake Bell) with whom he originally cheated on Jane with. Keeping up? Also throw in a super adorable geek of an architect, Adam (Steve Martin) and you've got a thrilling love triangle. Oh, don't forget the three grown up children, cutie [almost] son-in-law and an annoying five-year old too!

Definitely a great movie to watch with your Mother and have a giggle, and speaking of giggles - Meryl Streep has such a cute giggle!

Suki Asks: How Do You Use Blushes From Indie Companies?

Curiouser and curiouser

Blushes from companies like Fyrinnae or Darling Girls Cosmetics are incredible and nothing like the run of the mill branded stuff (I'm an Indie company convert, shoot me...or join me) but when they come in the jars eye shadows come in and they're loose powder, what I want to know is how does one get a delicate dusting of powder to dust upon one's face?

I'm wondering whether to put them into a bigger surface area but the problem is still how much product you get on the brush. Is there a magic technique of doing this that I am unaware of?

Suki Challenge: Cerberus vs. Sea Nymph

I like it rough

Going the other way, I decided a color lacking the red, pink or purple pigment might be the way to go. What better color than my favorite green, Darling Girl Cosmetic's Sea Nymph?

Suki Challenge: Cerberus vs. Kitten In Heels & Dark Knight

I like it rough

After the failure of mixing Cerberus with a lighter version of itself, I thought why not mix it up with a brighter version instead? And perhaps the mix of a damsel in distress and hero would defeat this puppy once and for all...or maybe I just got carried away with pretending my eye shadows actually live up to their names while I'm asleep. Like Toy Story. Except...it'd be...Make up Story...

Don't mind me...

Suki Asks: Is Gray Blush Acceptable?

Curiouser and curiouser...

Seeing Evil Shades come out with new duotone blushes is making me giddy with excitement but admittedly I'm most excited about Skön, a seemingly light gray which to me seems to also have some hints of...purple? If that's the case then I'm definitely more than excited since purple is my new favorite color (sorry green)!

What I want to know is...do you think gray blush is acceptable? How would you wear it?

I think it would look good provided you do a light sweep of it. I think I'd wear it more for a night look though as I'm sure under daylight it could give you a slightly "off" look. What do you think?

EDIT
I stand corrected: while Skön seemed to be gray it in fact is a berry plum color! Seeing it swatched on Phyrra's blog I can see now how terribly off I was on guessing it's true nature. Regardless...it's purple-ish! Definitely close to gray in my opinion so I'm going to get it and try to work it!

Suki Challenge: Cerberus vs. Fantasy Star

I like it rough

You see every blogger doing looks of the day and looks with certain products but I have yet to see a blogger who does a look every day (for about a week or so, not literally for the rest of your life, eurk) using one product and then some.

I decided to try this using Evil Shades' Cerberus which is really such a great color to use every single day however I find it to be quite the dominant color so my challenge? To find a combination of colors or a color that will tame Cerberus once and for all.

Maybe I'm taking their names too seriously. Just maybe.

In Between: Back Home For The Rest Of The Year

Just a little filler, just whiling away my days

Being back home in Sri Lanka is great thus far but I have to admit I'm glad I'm only here for a little over a month - there honestly isn't much to do over here! So far all I've been doing is eating, talking with Mummy and sleeping. Not exactly the greatest way to stimulate my braincells that I need so desperately to keep me from flunking university nor is it great for my waistline...

In Between: My Final Night In Adelaide (Yay For No Rotation Photos!)

Just a little filler, just whiling away my days

My last night in Adelaide was also the day I finished exams and I thought I would do a typical night out at a pub with a friend but instead Scott claimed it from 6pm onwards. I had no idea what he had planned especially when he said we had to drive there. Exhausted, after a grueling exam and then a whole day of packing and moving my stuff down to storage, I sincerely hoped he wasn't taking us paint balling or something...

LOTDs: Forgotten Looks

This is how I intend to strut my stuff today

Here are a bunch of looks that I had no time to post up before and during my exams and so are declared forgotten looks (hence they're edited because I can and like messing around with brightness and contrast). Most products used are Fyrinnae or Evil Shades.

Just For Fun: Mix It Up

Fyrinnae's 'Mystic' on top of black nail polish and with a clear polish to finish.

In Between: The Last Of Adelaide (For Now)

Just a little filler, just whiling away my days

I guess this is going to be a summary of the past few weeks as well as a sort of end of the year post summarizing life in Adelaide...not that I'm leaving for good, I'll definitely be returning (January 4th 2011 at 7:15am-ish!). Where to start and what to say? This year has been a great one and I've experienced so much and been more open to having fun and not taking life (or myself) so seriously. I can't take all the credit for becoming a more easygoing person and honestly, sappy enough as some people might say it is, it really is Scott who has gotten me more out there. He is my boyfriend and he is my best friend and I'm beyond grateful I have him by my side.

Last month my college had it's big end of year event, the Valedictory Dinner or as it's more affectionately known, VD. What usually occurs is the entire college dresses up outrageously keeping costumes a secret until the actual day and then we have dinner in a formal style...and proceed to get drunk out of our minds. That's usual life at my college! Anyway, my group of friends and I decided to dress up as characters from the Greek legend "The Judgment of Paris" (which, if you know your Greek myths, is what started the war over Helen of Troy).

From left to right: Alex as Aphrodite, me as Hera, Darci as Athena and Arbaaz as Paris and of course, the Apple of Discord with the inscription 'To The Fairest'

LOTD: Clear Skies And Hell Nights

This is how I intend to strut my stuff today

Fyrinnae's 'La Noche' was my free sample in my latest order and I couldn't help but wish I got another color. Blue isn't a color I'm confident with and I try to avoid wearing it at all costs. However, everyone seems to be playing with 'La Noche' and loving it so I thought I'd try a combination of colors and try to ease into wearing blue more regularly. I suddenly found myself daydreaming about combining 'La Noche' and 'Dinosaur Plushie' together...and it reminded me of a perfectly clear sky. To contrast, I darkened 'Dinosaur Plushie' into Evil Shades' 'Fantasy Star' and then finished the look with Fyrinnae's 'Boytoy'. Hence the name, get it?

I'm procrastinating. I should be studying for my psychology exam tomorrow.

Evil Shades Evileyes Primer Review

Let me nit pick on things other than nits

As soon as I got Evil Shades' Evileyes Primer in Naked I had to do a test of it to see if it really was true love. What better way to do a test than to wear it for a whole day and do everything you can to abuse it? That's what I did and I honestly did everything I would normally do in a day and went a step further and decided to be slightly careless while I was at it too. That is to say, I sweated, accidentally rubbed, ran, power walked, showered, blinked repeatedly, romped (if you know what I mean, ehehehe) and so on.

Evil Shades: Order #1 and #2

Looking to color my life through my eyes

I first ordered from Evil Shades quite a few months ago and never got around to swatching or doing a review on my first order which is remarkably strange seeing as out of all the Indie companies I have ordered from, Evil Shades has to be my favorite of them all.

In Between: Kobi Levi

Just a little filler, just whiling away my days

(Photo taken from Kobi Levi's blog)

When I saw Kobi Levi's shoes in Doe Deere's blog, I had to check him out further and holy moly I'm loving his shoe designs! They are so very creative and outlandish and I know I'd risk wearing a few designs because they are all so very wearable despite being so out of the box. Definitely take the time to check out his designs, I have no idea if he sells these masterpieces but I reckon I'll be in line for one or two of his shoes if he is open for business!

Photo Challenge - 27/30

A Photo Of Last Summer

As close to last summer as possible, I didn't take many photos last year. This is Smiler (:

Suki Says: Love Yourself, Seriously, This Is Not A Cliché Statement

Don't judge me; I'm just a tsunami of a person

(Blogger still needs to find a way to rotate images, for reals)

Mustering up the courage to post up a picture of my gut should not be difficult but it is difficult, no matter what you look like. I am well aware that I have a decent shape/weight/etc. as it is - no, really, even if you may not think so I disagree with you and say that I do - but each person has things about themselves that they would love to tweak, you know? For me, I came to Adelaide and weighed (shock, horror! Yes I am doing what is forbidden and talking about weight! But this too should not be such a taboo topic) 45 kilograms. It sounds ideal for a person who is 5'3" but personally? I felt disgusting. I felt as though clothes hung on me instead of clinging to my shape and as for my shape (I used to be very, very, very curvey as I weighed about 65 kilograms and gaining, no lie) all that I had simply disappeared and I became this shapeless, pale and malnourished looking thing.

A Photo Of Your Favorite Weekend

On a personal note, it is Scott and my anniversary today which made me think back two months ago when we went to the zoo to feed the sun bears (Akbar and Manji! For more information on them, go here) on our anniversary then. Definitely my favorite weekend this year I reckon.

Happy Anniversary Scooter, I love you (: ♥

Suki Says: A Little Bit Of Inspiration, Please.

Don't judge me; I'm just a tsunami of a person

Have you ever been in a rut of all sorts? Where your creativity, imagination, sense of self - everything, just seems completely blank? I feel as though recently I've come to that sort of rut due to the amount of personal emotional stress I've put myself through and I wish there were some way to jump start myself. I've heard of people getting into this sort of state and I've never understood but now I understand how frustrating it can be. The worst part is you simply sigh and acknowledge the fact that you're blank; admitting defeat is difficult for me.

I found a bit of solace in Katy Perry's newest song, I hope someone else does too.
