I have a whole stash of photos from last year that I edited so I could make blog posts at a drop of a hat (okay, maybe a couple of drops) but somehow I think that took the allure away from blogging since I never ended up making the posts. Although I am going to redo a lot of the photos there are a few that are still relatively good so pardon me if I have a few photos (specifically of myself) that are pretty old.
Anyway, moving on. Today's post is on Models Prefer which at the time of purchasing the items in this post were not at all on anyone's radar and I had a giggle to myself at the time since I was still modeling...and...yeah. Now they have popped up on quite a few blogs and for that I am glad since they have some really great products!
I got a blush in 'Beauty Addict' and a lipstick in 'City Chic'. Overall impressions I love the packaging especially considering the price of the products (affordable). The blush packaging may be considered a little cheap by some but I love it because it's a bit bulky but very light weight making it easy to carry around (albeit easier to accidentally fling from the table).
The lipstick packaging is definitely unique and I wish I had taken a photo of it last year (sorry, too lazy to take one now) but I will try and explain it: Sort of like a push pen, you push a circle on the case downward and the lipstick (as seen above) comes out in it's entirety. I love this because I have a bit of a problem of stabbing lipsticks accidentally when opening or closing their cases and plus it's always fun to have something new. The bottom of the silver body has the lipstick color so it's easy to identify. Name of the product is on the sheer black part of the packaging.
Unfortunately...this lipstick disgusts me. I love the color, I love the packaging but oh my god the smell and taste is absolutely disgusting! Please reformulate Models Prefer because it tastes like clay and smells like it too - not appealing.
This blush is sooo shimmery and I'm glad my camera manage to capture this beautiful color. It's a purple but has a strong golden sheen/shimmer/micro glitter/aura, etc. I find it funny that I hate NARS 'Orgasm' (seriously, such an ugly color to me) one of the main reasons being the ridiculous amount of shimmer but I love 'Beauty Addict'. I think the purple shade appeals to me because it gives me color payoff and shimmer while 'Orgasm' gives me nothing but a shimmery mess!
See? You can see the strong color - a delicious purple with a golden shimmer at various angles.
Swatches in different lighting (not intentional, just being the regular camera flunk I am!). The lipstick 'City Chic', the blush 'Beauty Addict' swatched heavily and then blended out.
This lipgloss I didn't actually get with the blush and lipstick but I had gotten it quite a while back and realized that all these products are purple! Think it was during my purple kick...I don't know why I was so into it since purple is quite difficult to wear but I guess I wanted to try something different. The lipgloss is 'Fabulously Flirty' and is a gorgeous color alone but you have to be careful in case you look like a zombie!
Some swatches, again in different lighting because I thought you'd be, ahem, keen to see them in such light...not! Unlike the lipstick, the lipgloss is a lovely formula. It softens my lips and doesn't smell or taste bad. The color payoff is great and it has a lovely golden glitter.
This is how old these photos are - my hair is super short and I still have my bangs! Can barely recognize myself, haha. Anyway this is me wearing the blush, lipstick and lipgloss. The blush adds a lovely color that I rarely get from other shades but you have to be extremely light-handed with the color especially since it is a purple and can be noticeable where it is distributed heavily.
Definitely love Models Prefer even though I no longer model (ha..haha) and love how many products they have to offer and how much care they take in their packaging and products despite being a drugstore brand. Only thing is REFORMULATE THOSE LIPSTICKS! Then I'll love you unconditionally.
